Issue with Google Talk Show Current Music Track and Winamp

A lot of people have (including me) have been facing a series of crashes when using the ‘Show Current Music Track’ feature of Google Talk and Winamp (5.531 in my case). I Googled and found that there were a lot of solutions that did not work, including one from the folks at Google itself which asks you to install the latest version of Talk. But the solution is a simple less-than-a-minute fix. Here it is:

  1. Exit Talk and Winamp.
  2. Browse to your Winamp installation folder.
  3. Create a new file and name it winamp.m3u
  4. Open Talk, Winamp
  5. Set status to ‘Show Current Music Track’.
  6. Done!

    Thanks for this helpful trick.

For n00bies who puzzled at creating a file

Right Click > New > Click any (for eg: Microsoft Word) and name it as winamp.m3u.

if you have still probelm under naming, uncheck Hide Extentions under folder options.
