EQM Thank You Giveaway

I wonder what made Northwest give away 10,000 EQMs to Platinums. I received an email that 5,000 EQMs were deposited but noticed 10,000 in my account. Is Delta trying to retain unhappy elites on Northwest? It takes more than EQMs.
